However, on the afternoon on April 20, in news sent by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, it announced that it decided to carry out an anti-dumping investigation into MDF products imported from Thailand and Malaysia into Vietnamese market.
According to Decision No. 940/QD-BCT on conducting an investigation to apply anti-dumping measures to a number of industrial wood products (commonly known as MDF boards) originating from Thailand and Malaysia imported into Vietnam, the investigation was launched based on a dossier sent by representatives of local MDF producers on October 18, 2018.
The requesting party was four representatives of local MDF producers, consisting of: VRG Kien Giang MDF JSC, VRG Dongwha MDF JSC, MDF VRG Quang Tri Wood JSC, and Kim Tin MDF JSC.
The requesting party accused MDF products imported from Thailand and Malaysia of being sold at dumping rates in Vietnamese market with a dumping range varying from 18.59 percent to 50.6 percent. The dumping is the main reason that has caused significant losses to MDF manufacturing industry of Vietnam.
